RIGHTING A WRONG by Rachael Anderson

Righting a Wrong by Rachael Anderson I really enjoyed this installment of the Ripple Effect Series. I loved Jace and was kind of sad when no more than the first chapter was in his point of view. However, the farther I got into Cambri's point of view, the story really is hers and it was beautifully told. It was fun to see how they worked out their past and made things happen. I would highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone who is a romantic at heart.

:) :) :) :) :)

Seven years ago, Cambri Blaine fled her small hometown of Bridger, Colorado after her senior year ended in a fiasco. Only Jace Sutton knew the real reason why—that she was a spineless coward. Now, seven years later, her father's been in an accident and needs help, and Cambr has no choice but to return home. So with trepidation, she takes a leave of absence from the landscape architecture firm where she works and boards a plane, hoping against hope that Jace is no longer around and that the past can stay where it belongs—in the past. If only life worked that way. Jace never expected to see Cambri again. After she’d led him on, bruised his heart, and left town without a backward glance, he was forced to pick up the pieces and try not to hate her for it. Eventually, he put it behind him and moved on, creating a life for himself in his beloved hometown. But now that Cambri is back and looking more beautiful and sophisticated than ever, some of those old feelings resurface, and Jake instinctively knows, for the sake of his heart, that he needs to avoid her at all costs. If only it were that easy.

CONFESSIONS OF A MOM

This week has been interesting in so many different ways. The first part I spent waking up with nightmares I’m pretty sure were brought on by anxiety. I’m not going to get into because I don’t want to relive them. They are real enough to me as I’m asleep. I don’t want to see them again as I’m awake.

Hubby won a cruise through his work that he and I get to go on in the near future, but Tigger gets to stay with family here. I’m sure it’s come up that since Lion went home I’ve had a hard time leaving Tigger for an extended period of time. Needless to say, this trip is for an extended period of time.

I’m trying very hard to not get worked up about it. I know that The Lord is in charge and whatever happens is exactly what is in His plan but that doesn’t erase the fear and anxiety that is coming and dare I say attacking me. And these dreams are a part of the attacking.

It’s an interesting predicament that I’ve found myself in. I trust The Lord and His plan. I know that if a member of my family or even if I am called home it is what’s supposed to happen. But I don’t want to go home yet. Right now I would rather bury my family before me than go home. That may sound morbid, but in a way I’m being selfish. I want to be the one to raise my sons. I want to be the one spending time with Hubby and my parents and siblings. Yet I trust in The Lord’s plan.

The flip side to this is that my anxiety I believe is partially brought on a bit by fear. It’s been taught that faith or to me, trust cannot exist with fear. Does that mean in a way I don’t trust The Lord? Does that mean I’m letting fear dictate my life in a way? How can I say I trust The Lord when I have these fears deep within me?

I’m not exactly sure how to answer all those questions. I know that anxiety can be a medical condition that is no laughing matter. I know that I had a very traumatic experience last year that has added to a deep seeded feeling I’ve had for several years. I realize that there may come a point in time when I am not able to manage these emotions alone and with The Lord’s help. I don’t think I’ve reached that point yet, but that doesn’t mean it won’t happen. I pray it doesn’t, but all I can say right now is that I’m working my way through it the best that I can.

I don’t know if fear and trust can live in the same place at the same time. I do know that it is forcing me to throw even more trust to The Lord. I wish I could say I knew everything will work out fine, but I can’t. I have a hard time promising Tigger that he’s safe because there are things I can’t control out there. Someone could break into the house, heaven forbid. We could be in a car accident. A car could turn the corner too fast . . . and the list goes on. All I can promise is that I will do all I can to keep him safe and I’ll turn the rest over to The Lord.

As much as I would love to say I know what’s going to happen, I can’t. Do I wish I had some type of clue? Absolutely, but I don’t and I have to work with what I do know. Maybe that’s one of the reasons why I enjoy writing by the seat of my pants—meaning I don’t have an outline, I just write—because I don’t know what’s going to happen and half the fun of it is the journey and discovery along the way. And the journey is great fun, but in this case . . . well, I think you get the idea. :)

LIFE IN PALACE by Catherine Green—Book Blast/Giveaway

Life in the PalaceLife in the Palace by Catherine Green "We need to talk," Tal said. Then I knew it was going to go badly. "We need to talk" is the conversational equivalent of walking into your basement without turning on the light, on a dark and stormy night, when a known psychopath is on the loose. You might as well cut to the chase and slit your own throat. Chloe Diaz assumed three things: that when Tal said that she was one of The People sent from heaven to maintain the cosmic balance, it was code for a pamphlet distributing, incense burning, religious weirdo; that the gorgeous Seth Wilks would never be her soul mate and that she'd never have to choose between them. Chloe was wrong. Now the future of the world is in her hands, but what if price is too great to pay?

CONFESSIONS OF A MOM

I’ve had two things that have been asked and said over the past little while that have gotten me thinking. The first is a question. Since we’re expecting again, I’ve had many people ask if I am with my same OBGYN. The answer is yes, but it’s been asked enough that I got to wondering why it would be in the first place.

I can’t say for sure what others have in their mind but the only thought that comes to mind is that people wonder if I would trust my OBGYN with another child. After all, he didn’t diagnosis anything with Lion when it could have and many think it should have been caught before he was born. If the mistake was made once, it could happen again so why trust him?

Easy. Why wouldn’t I trust him? Everyone is human. Everyone makes mistakes. Yes some mistakes have bigger consequences, but we all make them. We seem to hold doctors up to an expectation of never making mistakes, and when/if they do, we tear them apart. The bottom line is we weren’t supposed to know about Lion’s condition before he was born. I firmly believe we wouldn’t have had the time we did with him had we know. Do I hold my OB responsible? Absolutely not. I’m comfortable with him and I trust him, which for me and doctors says a lot. And frankly I would most likely still have the same worries and concerns if not more of them with another OB than I do with my current one.

At this point in time, The Lord owes you. That’s what I’ve had a few people say as of late. Or at least something similar to that. The first time it was said, it caught me off guard. The Lord owes me? Why would He owe me? I put it out of my mind until it was said again.

I guess I can see why people would think that, but at the same time the whole idea makes me a bit uncomfortable. The Lord doesn’t owe me anything in my opinion. Every thing in life happens for a reason, meaning that The Lord is in charge. Lion was needed on the other side more than he was needed here. We were blessed to have him for the time we did. Would it be nice to know if this new baby will be with us for longer . . . yes, but ultimately it’s not up to me. I can’t control that. All I can do is be thankful for the time I have been given with each of my loved ones.

I trust The Lord. I trust that He has a plan for each of us. I trust that things happen exactly the way they are supposed to. Does that mean it’s easy or that it makes sense? No. Does that mean The Lord owes us after something tragic happens to us? In my opinion, no it doesn’t mean that at all. I’m not sure I’m explaining my thoughts and feelings clearly. I hope I’m making sense and not saying things that others may be offended by. That’s not my intent at all. I hope that something in this post will make sense. Just know that I know that The Lord knows us, that He lives, that He loves us and as long as we are doing our best and living righteously, we will be blessed. Maybe not in the way we think we should be, but we will be blessed. Happy Easter. :)

FORTUNE COOKIE by Josi S Kilpack—Review/Giveaway

Fortune CookieFortune Cookie by Josi S Kilpack. I love Sadie and the situations she finds herself in. The recipes make my mouth water and I love seeing a new area of the country. This particular story though edged on the almost too descriptive of the murder side of things. Maybe it was just the way it happened, and for that reason, it wasn't my favorite Sadie book. I can recommend it for those who love a great mystery that will keep you turning the page.

:) :) :) :)

Sadie Hoffmiller has always liked things to be just so. A place for everything and everything in its place. Order over chaos. And of all things Sadie should be able to control, her own wedding is at the top of the list. With the big day just three weeks away, Sadie is busily adding the final touches to her wedding plans but the arrival of a mysterious letter from San Francisco changes everything. The only person Sadie knows in San Francisco is her older sister, Wendy, whom she hasn’t seen since their mother’s funeral nearly fifteen years ago. Sadie has faced off against murderers and criminals in recent years, yet the possibility of reconnecting with her sister is both overwhelming and frightening. Sadie soon discovers, however, that the letter is just the beginning when Wendy’s world turns out to be a place of unanswered questions, twisted truths, and more than one person with a motive for murder. The more Sadie digs into her sister’s past, the more she places her own future at risk.

COVER REVEAL/GIVEAWAY & BOOK REVIEW

I have two exciting things today. First off is the cover reveal for Rachelle J Christensen's new book DIAMOND RINGS ARE DEADLY THINGS. This exciting mystery will be coming out later this year. I'm looking forward to this release. There is a rafflecopter giveaway for this book at the end of this post.
Adrielle Pyper knows how to plan a wedding, and she is especially good at pleasing bridezillas. But when her biggest client and best friend is murdered just three days before the wedding, Adri’s world falls apart. She moves to the resort town of Sun Valley, Idaho, and starts from scratch. Thanks to Adri’s impeccable taste and unique style, she lands two celebrity clients, and her business seems headed for success--that is, until someone vandalizes the specialty wedding dresses she imported from overseas. The race is on to uncover a secret hidden within the yards of satin and lace before Adri becomes the next victim. With a delightful blend of mystery, toe-curling kisses, humor, and spine-tingling thrills, Diamond Rings are Deadly Things is a romantic suspense novel that will keep you turning pages long into the night.

THE 7 DAY CHRISTIAN by Brad Wilcox. This was an interesting read. I enjoyed the stories and experiences he pulled from his life to help teach the principle that we need to be Christian's every day rather than just on Sunday. The chapters were short enough that I could set it aside to think about what he said and then come back to it. He bears a powerful testimony of the effect of being an every day Christian. This book was written for everyone and is not specific to one religion. I would recommend it to anyone who professes to be a Christian as we all, including myself, can use a pick me up and reminder of how to life a more Christ-like life.

:) :) :) :)

Christianity is facing great opposition. No one is being thrown to lions, but many followers of Christ face persecution because of their beliefs. At the very least, most know how it feels to end up on the wrong side of a "politically correct" conversation. More than ever before, we need believing and behaving disciples—men and women who are ready to stand up and stand together to change the world as early Christians did: one righteous choice at a time.

Filled with personal experiences and insightful stories, this book emphasizes the importance of living in accordance with our values every single day, with practical suggestions for how to actually pull it off. "Christ doesn't just want people to acknowledge His grace," writes Brad Wilcox. "He wants them to be transformed through it. He doesn't just want people to come to Him. He wants them to become like Him— a process that takes place 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year, and throughout all the years of our lives.

SILVER LININGS by Kaylee Baldwin—Review/Giveaway

Silver Linings by Kaylee Baldwin—This was a delightful read. It was fun to see how the "ripple effect" was going to take place. I loved already know a little bit about one of the main characters from the first book HOME MATTERS. It took me a bit to remember who Drew was, but the minute that connection was made, I was hooked and couldn't put it down. Now I can't wait for the next installment. This clean romance I can recommend to any and everyone who loves a quick, fun, romantic read.

:) :) :) :) :)

Drew Westfall wants nothing more than to forget what he had to do in the name of "smart" business. Cutting off all ties with his parents—including handing over the entire contents of his trust fund to a charity—he takes off for Bridger, Colorado where his best friend has an extra room for him. It doesn't take long for him to realize that his business degree won’t do him much good in a town as small as Bridger, but he's broke and has nowhere else to go. Eden Torresi has every reason to wallow. Not only did she have to sell her house to pay for her mother’s medical expenses, but she also had to drop out of school and is in a relationship with a guy unwilling to commit. But Eden isn't the wallowing type. Instead, she chooses to spend most of her time taking care of the seniors at Silver Linings Assisted Living. When she learns that her boyfriend's new roommate is down on his luck, her caring nature makes her want to reach out to him and offer what help she can. But the more time they spend together, the more complicated things get, especially when the seniors of Silver Linings decide to play matchmaker.

CONFESSIONS OF A MOM

There was a blog post that circulated Facebook a little while ago that I wanted to comment on. I debated whether or not to get into specifics, but I don’t think that’s necessary. In my opinion, this particular post doesn’t need anymore traffic than it already received.

It talked about a particular popular movie and the hidden agenda the blog author felt it held. Since I hadn’t seen the movie yet I was curious about it, so I clicked on the link and began to read. The farther I read the more uncomfortable I became. The author was making some pretty heavy assumptions. I never finished the article. Then many weeks later, I saw this particular movie.

In the back of my mind I wondered how accurate I would find the statements in this blog post. I could see exactly what she was talking about. But at the same time it began to really ruin a good movie for me. So I pushed it aside and enjoyed the rest of the film. It was an incredible movie.

Since I’ve seen the movie, I’ve thought about the accusations made by this blog author who happens to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, the same church I belong to. Now I know everyone is entitled to their opinion and they have the freedom to express that opinion in a manner they see fit. What I also see is that accusing people of having hidden agendas in wrong, in my opinion.

As an author, I have seen the prejudice the idea of having a “hidden agenda” can cause. Good books are not published by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because people are afraid that the authors of such books have hidden agendas of indoctrinating or brainwashing the public. Or books by members of the Church are published then blacklisted because people are afraid of the “hidden agendas” that may or may not be there. It’s sad all the way around.

Granted, there are those who do have those agendas though I find it hard to believe that the majority of people sit at their desks or computers or whatever and think, “What hidden agenda can I mix in with something that might be really popular today?” Maybe I’m being naive in that statement, but at the same time I truly believe that most people are inherently good. Most people are not out to get those around them.

This particular blog author spoke her mind and now I’m speaking mine. It is a dangerous road to go around accusing others of having hidden agendas. We don’t want people accusing us of the same thing so we need to provide the same courtesy to others. The golden rule comes to mind at this point too. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” The Savior Jesus Christ taught, “Love thy neighbor as thyself.” If you want others to accuse you of things then that’s one thing. If you don’t . . . well that’s something to think about.

Now don’t take this the wrong way. I’m not accusing this blog author of anything. I’m simply stating my opinion that as an author/musician/artist, I don’t want people accusing me of having a hidden agenda. People may look too deeply into something and create their own hidden agenda for me, but that is the farthest thing from my mind. I just want to share a story, piece of music, or something I consider beautiful with those around me. And as I extend that same courtesy to others, I hope they extend it to me. :)

CONFESSIONS OF A MOM

Can I just say I really don’t like being pregnant? I know I could have it much worse than I do and I should and am grateful for that, but I still really don’t like being pregnant. When Tigger was somewhere around a year I think, I remember being incredible frustrated when I realized that Tigger needed a sibling. I did not want to go through pregnancy again. Or the first few months after birth.

In a conversation with my mom I told her that if kids came at 6 months old then I would have no problem doing it again, but I really didn’t enjoy being pregnant and those first few months. Those first months I’m sure were due to lack of sleep with a baby who didn’t like to sleep and the uncomfortableness of nursing. (I know there are those that love it and would have it no other way. I respect them. Me, on the other hand, never enjoyed it. I was told that after the first month something would change and I would love. I kept waiting for that change that never came. It was always more of a burden and it never truly stopped hurting like I was told it would.)

But the pregnancy, I could do without. After Tigger was born people assured me that I would forget and want another baby at some point. Once again, I kept waiting for that point to come. It never did. The only reason I agreed to get pregnant again is because I knew there was a sibling waiting for Tigger. I never forgot how much I didn’t like being pregnant. I never forgot the pain, the uncomfortableness, the slowing down or any of it. You could say I went into knowing full well what I was getting myself into.

Then things didn’t work out as planned and here I am again. As with Lion, I never forgot what it was like to be pregnant. I never forgot the struggle I had keeping up with Tigger. I never forgot any of it. If I had my way, I wouldn’t be having another pregnancy, but I knew there was another sibling for Tigger. That doesn’t change the fact that I’m complaining about the pregnancy.

This may sound crazy, especially for those who have or are having issues getting pregnant, who want it so bad it hurts. My heart goes out to those women. I know it’s just a means to the end, but in the middle of it all, it’s just plain hard. I’m slowing down, Tigger’s speeding up and I’m struggling to keep him busy. It’s just not what I would call fun. I was just getting to the point that I could run and play with Tigger when we found out we were expecting. I pushed myself to get through the cultural celebration knowing that if I thought about it I wouldn’t be able to make it through.

I guess this turned into one of those complaining posts. With the way it began there really wasn’t any other way for it to go. So I apologize for that. Life really is good. We are excited to have another little boy in our family. I’m already trying to figure out what animal he will relate to since we already have Tigger & Lion. I’ve thought of a few other bigs cats but that one will most likely have to wait until he’s here with us.

So, just for fun, what is your favorite big cat? Or what would you vote for for the new little one?
