CHARLOTTE'S PROMISE by Jennifer Moore

CHARLOTTE'S PROMISE by Jennifer Moore. When I got this book I found the cover to be a bit odd, but I couldn't wait to read it. Once I finished the book, the cover had grown on me. The plot sounded fascinating and it held true. The readers were thrown into the story in such a way that you immediately feel for Charlotte and her position, as well as her reasons for attempting to gain passage to New Orleans. The voyage over was harrowing as several things went wrong. And the adventure continued into New Orleans. This adventure is worth risking it all for. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a great seaworthy tale as well as some romance.

:) :) :) :)

One year ago Charlotte Bower’s life was ripped apart when Creek Indians attacked, killed her parents, and separated her from her young brother—now, she will stop at nothing to find him. After a year of captivity, she has finally made her escape. Her search will begin in New Orleans, where captives were taken after the raid. But how to reach a city hundreds of miles away? As she watches men boarding a waiting ship, Charlotte formulates a bold plan: if it’s men they need for the ship’s crew, it’s a man they’ll get. Taking on her childhood nickname, Charlie, it is all too easy to gain passage on the New Orleans-bound vessel. Easy, that is, until Charlie is caught . . .
From the moment he sets eyes on the new deckhand, Captain Alden Thatcher knows one thing for certain: Charlie Bower is no man. But for reasons of his own, he keeps her secret. As their journey progresses, however, the voyage is increasingly ill-fated. With danger ever present, Charlie and the captain find themselves relying on one another in ways they’d never imagined. As they draw closer to her goal, Charlotte is faced with the most perilous adventure of all—an adventure that may risk her heart.

A CHRISTMAS COURTING by Jennifer Moore, Chalon Linton, Jen Geigle Johnson, Heidi Kimball. I really enjoyed this collection of Christmas stories. I have read things from all but one of the authors and found that these stories we equal to their other books. Each couple was fun to follow through their journey. I didn't feel like I missed out on anything, although it's always nice to have more with characters you enjoy being with. I loved how some of the others referenced characters from other novels. It felt like an addition to that particular novel. It was a delightful addition to Christmas love stories and a great way to begin the crazy holiday season. I would highly recommend it.

THE SHIPBUILDER'S WIFE by Jennifer Moore

THE SHIPBUILDER'S WIFE by Jennifer Moore. I really enjoyed this book. Not only were the characters fun to love, it gave me a different sense of what the world was like in America during this particular time period. It showed how war changes some people and brings others closer. It showed how shallow some people in society were as well as who kind and loving others are. I loved Lydia and her growth throughout the store. I enjoyed watching Jacob learn to deal with his trust issues. There was one unanswered question that I'm hoping will be answered in another novel sometime, or it just may be one that is left dangling. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. It was a wonderful read that I would recommend to anyone.

:) :) :) :) :)

The day of her parents' garden party dawns bright as Lydia Prescott eagerly anticipates a marriage proposal from a handsome and wealthy plantation owner. The lovely debutante plans to steal a moment away with her beau, but her plans go terribly awry. Instead of her intended, she is joined by a stranger—the largest man she's ever laid eyes on. And it is clear Jacob Steel is there for reasons far more sober than the party. With British raids erupting all around them, it is his job to reassure plantation owners of their safety. In reality, however, Jacob is an espionage agent, and the truth is dire: America is on the verge of invasion by the British.
Blissfully unaware of the danger surrounding her, Lydia basks in the glow of her recent engagement. But her joy is short-lived—a surprise British attack results in a devastating wound, and her plans for the future are shattered. Lost in her devastation, Lydia could never dream that Jacob, that giant of a man she met so briefly, would prove to be her saving grace. And with a war raging around them, she may be called upon to save him too.

MY DEAREST ENEMY by Jennifer Moore

MY DEAREST ENEMY by Jennifer Moore. I really enjoyed this book. I'm so used to Regency era that it so a nice change to read about something on the North American continent. It gave me a different feel for what was going on during that time period. I love to see how what is socially acceptable in society has changed over the many years, both for better and for worse. The characters are amazing as is the storyline. In a way I feel like the story could be continued which is fun to speculate but I was happy with the ending. I would recommend it to anyone who loves a good historical romance, although it does touch on some of the unpleastantries of war so it may not be good for some.

:) :) :) :)

Amherstburg, Ontario, Canada, 1812
Struggling alone on the family farm, Abigail Tidwell knows exactly who is to blame for her hardships: the Americans. If it weren't for their part in the war, her father and brothers would be home rather than fighting abroad. But no amount of antipathy could have prepared her for the shocking sight of a wounded American soldier on her property, a man in dire need of her help. Grudgingly, Abigail tends to the soldier's injuries and anticipates the satisfaction of turning him over to the authorities once he is healed. But fate has other plans.
Captain Emmett Prescott remembers little of the ambush on his men by a group of Shawnee Indians and even less about how he arrived in the unfamiliar barn. After being nursed back to health by beautiful, if reluctant, Abigail, Emmett would do anything to save the men he left behind—including forcibly enlisting Abigail's help. Soon, Abigail finds herself caught between two countries at war. And as her attraction for Emmett grows, her conflicted heart engages in its own silent battle. But when she is accused of treason for her actions, her survival rests in the hands of the very man she once considered her enemy.

MISS LESLIE'S SECRET by Jennifer Moore

MISS LESLIE'S SECRET by Jennifer Moore. This book was so much fun. We actually just took a trip to Scotland and I was very excited to read a story set in the Scottish Highlands. It did not disappoint. I knew of many of the places that were talked about, so visualizing the characters at home was easy to do. I loved the personalities of Conall, Aileen, and Jaime. Watching the characters grow together was done so well. Then the when the secret comes out, the tension rises and the ending was perfect. I would highly recommend this book to any and everyone.

:) :) :) :) :)

Decorated war hero Conall Stewart has spent ten years envisioning his return to his beloved Scottish Highlands. But now, with the days of battle finally behind him, it seems that his dreams of home have been in vain: the land of his youth lies in ruins, and his family is gone. Though he will never stop searching for his kin, Conall knows he must begin again. But when he takes on a rented farm in a nearby town, he finds far more than the fresh start he was looking for.

Drawn together by circumstance, Conall soon develops a fatherly relationship with Jamie—as well as romantic feelings for Aileen. MISS WHITAKER OPENS HER HEART by Jennifer Moore

MISS WHITAKER OPENS HER HEART by Jennifer Moore. I was interested in this book because of its location, Australia. I love Australia and have to say that I haven't read many books with an Australian setting, especially in this era. The historical aspect of it alone had me fascinated. A headstrong woman in the middle of Australia as the head of a ranch. Incredible with just that alone. The characters were wonderful. It was easy to see exactly why they did what they did and made the choices they made. Sometimes all the self-questioning that happens in a romance bothers me, but in this story I could really feel why the doubts were there and why the questions kept being asked. It was a fantastic story that held everything you could imagine: heartbreak, betrayl, love, hardship, suspense, growth. I would highly recommend it to any and everyone, even those who are not really fans of romance. There is a lot to learn in this story.

:) :) :) :) :)

Australia, 1814
As a young child bound for a strange country, Sarah Whitaker dreamed of life with her father on his sprawling Australian ranch. But her hopes were shattered when she learned of his death and of her new role as heiress of the largest sheep farm in New Wales. Orphaned in a land greatly populated by petty criminals exiled from England, the future seemed grim. But now, ten years later, Sarah has defied the odds and become a successful businesswoman—much to the chagrin of her male counterparts. Hardened by the dishonesty of both her fellow ranchers and the felons in her employ, Sarah has learned one important truth: no one is to be trusted.
Daniel Burton is a lucky man. Sentenced to death for his role in a horse-race scandal, Daniel was granted reprieve thanks to the influence of his wealthy relatives. Now, rather than death, Daniel faces exile in Australia—an opportunity to put past mistakes behind him. But when he purchases land with the intention of farming it, he unwittingly arouses the wrath of his new neighbor, Sarah. What begins as a battle of wits, however, soon becomes a warm friendship—and perhaps something more. But when Daniel's secret past is revealed, will Sarah be able forgive yet another deception?

A PLACE FOR MISS SNOW by Jennifer Moore — #bookreview #books

A PLACE FOR MISS SNOW by Jennifer Moore. I loved this sweet story. Not only was it set in a place that I haven't read a lot about (Greece), the characters were easy to love. I was sucked into the story from the first page and enjoyed it all the way till the end. In face, I didn't want it to be over. This sweet story is for anyone, especially those who love to learn about a new culture and those who love a good romance. It is a delightful read that everyone will love.

:) :) :) :) :)

Miss Diane Snow is everything a British chaperone should be—she finds satisfaction in order and depends wholly upon the rules of decorum as she negotiates the isle of Greece with her young charge. But Miss Snow's prim and proper exterior masks a disquieting past: orphaned and alone in the world, she has only her stiff upper lip to rely on. When a brief encounter with a handsome stranger challenges her rules of propriety, Diana is unwittingly drawn into an adventure that will turn her ordered world upside down.
Alexandros Metaxas is a Greek spy working to recruit individuals to the cause of revolution. His mission seems to be going perfectly until he encounters Diana Snow, a captivating—if slightly cold—beauty. There is only one way to save her: they must put themselves at the mercy of the most powerful pirate family in the Mediterranean. Soon, Diana is plunged into a fantastic world of gypsy curses, blood feuds, and unexpected romance. But when a bitter vendetta places her in mortal danger, will she have the courage to fight for life and love?

LADY HELEN FINDS HER SONG by Jennifer Moore—book review/giveaway

LADY HELEN FINDS HER SONG by Jennifer Moore. I really enjoyed this story. I love being in a different part of the world that isn't always talked about. I love that Helen was able to see the beauty in things around her even though there were ugly things happening. I enjoyed watching the relationship grow between Captain Rhodes and Lady Helen. I did have a hard time believing the relationship between Lieutenant Bancroft. There wasn't much time spend on them together and he seemed to pop up when it was convenient rather than an integral part of the story. This is a great read for anyone who loves a good adventure with romance. I'd highly recommend it.

:) :) :) :)

SIMPLY ANNA by Jennifer Moore — #amreading #books #bookreview

SIMPLY ANNA by Jennifer Moore. This was a very fun, quick read. It talked about a part of the world that isn't used in literature for this era. I enjoyed reading more about Jamaica. I did have a hard time figuring out some of the speak when it was written in the Jamaica dialect, but it didn't take away from the story that much. I enjoyed the characters, setting and plot of this story. It is a clean read that I would recommend to anyone who loves a great romance.

:) :) :) :) :)

Suffering from a cruel heartbreak, Lord Philip Hamilton has been driven to seek refuge from the painful memories haunting London, and his father’s Jamaican sugar cane plantation provides just the escape he needs. Philip finds solace in his hard work and takes comfort in the fact that his distance from society ensures that his heart will be protected from future entanglements. Protected, that is, until the unexpected appearance of a mysterious woman with no memory of her past. The only clue to her identity is a necklace inscribed with a name: Anna.
In a matter of weeks, this gentle, intelligent, and impossibly beautiful stranger turns Philip’s world upside down. But as the bond between the pair grows, the threat of Philip losing his heart once more is only the beginning of the dangers that await. MISS BURTON UNMASKS THE PRINCE by Jennifer Moore— #bookreview #books #review

MISS BURTON UNMASKS THE PRINCE by Jennifer Moore. This is a very cute regency romance that I enjoyed. I found that I didn't like some of the side story, I just wanted to get back to the Meg and Carlo, although I understand why the side story was there. I loved the characters. Meg had a fire that I think is fun to read about in the ton. I loved watching Meg's relationship with Carlo and the ending was perfect. It's a wonderful, clean romance that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys a good love story.

:) :) :) :)

Southern belle Meg Burton is her parents' last hope of avoiding financial ruin, and a distant cousin's kind gesture seems an ideal solution: He will sponsor Meg for a London Season. The pursuit of a wealthy husband was not exactly how the bookish young woman had envisioned her first trip abroad—after all, what does a girl from Charleston, south Carolina, know about being a lady? Amidst the stunning gowns and extravagant balls of the ton, Meg feels like an imposter. Thankfully, she has one friend who knows her true self—Carlo, a handsome stable hand. Despite their difference in station, love blossoms between the unlikely pair, and Meg is sure of one thing: She wants nothing to do with the insufferable European aristocracy.
Prince Rodrigo de Talavera has lost everything to Napoleon. Jaded by war, he has become bitter and miserable—until he meets Meg, an American woman whose eccentric schemes and passion for life remind him what it is to laugh and to love. If only she knew him for himself and not as Carlo the stable hand. With the shadow of deception looming over their happy acquaintance and the dangers of war drawing ever more near, can Meg and Rodrigo find the courage to put aside their pretenses and discover if they can be loved as they truly are?
