SHORT INVESTIGATIONS by Clair M Poulson. This was a good suspense novel. There wasn't anything that was too intense, but it kept me on my toes, trying to figure out who did it. It was easy to like both Rhett, Max, and Patches, and there wasn't too much romance involved. Sometimes I get annoyed with the romancey side of things in the middle of a suspense novel, but things were just right in this one. There were some predicatable twists and some not so predicatable. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good suspense with some romance in it.

In the sleepy town of Heber, a strange 911 call is made to report an unthinkable crime: someone has murdered a woman . . . and her body has been found in Rhett Ketchum's barn. Rhett, a well-known rodeo cowboy, is placed firmly at the top of the suspect list—the only problem is, he's innocent. But when the officers on the case become targets themselves, it seems they may be the ones in need of protection. As events take a deadly turn, it's up to Max and Patches to uncover the truth before time runs out.

THE SEARCH by Clair M Poulson. This is one of the better suspense novels I've read of Poulson's. The prologue was incredible gripping and I couldn't wait to get into the story. The next few chapters were on the slow side. It felt info dumpy, yet at the same time it was done in the way of an interview and the information was necessary for the story. Part of me wishes he would have done it in a different way though. Once the story got moving, it was great. I loved the snarkiness of Jayden, and the relationship between Jayden and Nadia felt real. I especially loved reading about Bullet, Jayden's partner. The list of suspects is long, but as they weave through each one, it left me wondering until the very end, if I had gotten it correct. This is a great suspense novel that has a little bit of romantic elements in it. I would recommend it to anyone who loves a good suspense.

DEADLY INHERITANCE by Clair M. Poulson. This was a great suspense. I loved the twists and turns that happened as Andi, Bolden and Mason worked toward Gramps's murder. It kept me on my toes the entire book. The characters were instantly likable and it was fun to read about them. The story is fast-paced and keeps the pages turning. However, the romantic element that was present felt forced throughout most of the book. I cringed anytime things seemed to happen. I would recommend it to anyone who loves a great suspense and can put up with a little awkward romance.

Andi Buckner and her twin brother, Bolden, have had enough of the rough streets of Detroit. When they can no longer bear the drugs and abuse within their home, the twins make their escape: Bolden to the military, and Andi to wherever the wind takes her. With few belongings and no specific destination, Andi eventually finds herself across the table from a kind old man in a quaint cafe in Spring Hollow, Montana. Louis "Gramps" Granger, a retired cop, takes Andi under his wing. SILENT STING by Clair Poulson—review/giveaway

SILENT STING by Clair M Poulson. I found this book very fascinating at the beginning. It quickly drew me into the story and the premise was very intriguing. I got sucked into the characters and their problems, but as the mystery unfolded, I found myself feeling like some of the scenerios were forced. Then as I was trying to figure out who did it, I felt like things were just being dropped rather than foreshadowed. Even at the end of the book I spent time looking back and could kind of see how a reader might have possible come up with the ending, but there wasn't a lot. I'm not one that likes it really obvious but at the same time I like clever forshadowing and I felt this book lacked that. It was a good read though, and as I said, the premise is amazing. I'd recommend it for anyone who loves a mystery with a bit of romance.

The perpetrator wills top at nothing to keep investigators from finding the answer. As threats to Tiana's life escalate, Stu must battle an unknown foe to protect the woman he has come to care for, before she becomes the next victim in a dangerous conspiracy.

Book Review--Hunted

Hunted by Clair M Poulson. I remember looking forward to his books in junior high and high school. I would save my money so I could buy them and then promptly devoured them. I saw his new release and picked it up thinking I should go back and read his other ones. It has been a different experience reading an author I loved after I've learned more about writing.

I really enjoyed his storyline in this book. I loved the mystery and trying to figure out what was happening. The clues were great, the twists were wonderful, and the ending to the mystery perfect. However, the relationship ending I found lacking. In a way it ruined it for me, but I still liked the overall story and recommend it for anyone.
