Confessions Of A Mom

It's amazing how fast time goes. Here it is, late Friday night and it just dawns on me that it's Friday. Too much going on. You know what I'm talking about . . . Trying to keep up with the house as well as get ready for Christmas and everything the season entails. Needless to say, I'm not going to have my post completely ready until Saturday. But I'll leave you with this, how would you respond if someone ask you if you were going to have more kids?

  1. Well I would say no because I'm old and I already have a lot of kids but when I was younger and already had 5 kids in 7 years I could see the look of disdain when people asked if I was going to have more. I think it's just as bad the other way. If a person has 1 or 2 and get judged for "not having more".

How many children a person has and when they have them is between the couple and God. It's no one else's business. And there should be no judging either way if someone has a few kids or a million kids like me. Every one's trials and tolerances are different. Heavenly Father knows us and knows our hearts and He is the only one capable of fair and just judgement.

So how do you answer the question especially if it's a touchy one without being rude? Maybe you could say...I don't know, I"m praying about it.

  2. I have been asked this question a lot. Even more often the more kids I have. It is usually and most annoying from strangers or acquaintances I barely know that ask. I guess because it seems to come with just a touch(or a lot) of disdain and judgement.

I guess I've gotten just a little snarky in my old age. My standard answer when asked is to say with a completely serious face, "Well I quit washing our underwear together, but that just doesn't seem to do the trick." Some actually think I'm seriously that dim, and the rest get the clue that it is actually none of their business and leave it alone.

I know our circumstances are totally different but that doesn't change the fact that we all need to respect each other's decisions and boundaries as their own and not insert judgements onto others.

    Love you. You are awesome.
