KING OF THE FRIEND ZONE by Sheralyn Pratt

King of the Friend ZoneThe King of the Friend Zone by Sheralyn Pratt
I'm excited about this one!

Esme Taylor has an amazing fiancé, a lifelong best friend, and a problem. The problem stems from the fact that her best friend is named Hunter and, well. . .he’s kind of (totally) hot. It’s hate at first sight when her fiancé, Jon, and Hunter meet. Jon’s convinced that Hunter is in love with Esme, and that Hunter must be out of the picture if their upcoming marriage is to succeed. Esme thinks Jon is paranoid. The truth is, Jon’s not that far off. Hunter is in love with his best friend and always has been. What Jon has wrong, however, is that Hunter never had any plans of ruining Esme’s happily ever after. Hunter wants what’s best for Esme, even if that’s not him. When Jon pushes hard to end Esme and Hunter’s friendship, opposition comes from the most unlikely of places. It’s an eccentric lady with a cookie cart who suggests a different solution to Esme’s problem: Hunter and Esme should give each other a chance. They’ve both thought of the possibility over the years—of course they have. But with a ring already on Esme’s finger and a heap of hurt feelings and broken trust in the mix, there hasn’t been a worse time to explore the depths of their feelings for each other. Both Esme and Hunter think it’s time to move on and leave childhood crushes in the past. The question is: Can one woman and the taste of one cookie change their minds?

Some describe Sheralyn as a girl who's been around the block and worked at every shop. This isn't far from the truth. Writing is what she loves most, however. There's a magical power in stepping into new perspectives time and again, and seeing the world through different eyes. Few things increase empathy more than walking in another's shoes for 100,000 words or so. At least that seems to be the trend so far.
Some random things to know about Sheralyn: * She's a wanderer (geographically) * She can write a novel, but doesn't have the attention span for one page in a journal * She vehemently disagrees with Stephen King's stance that authors should not watch TV * She is pretty much incapable of sleeping before midnight

FOUR CHAMBERS by Julie Wright — @scatteredjules

FOUR CHAMBERS: POWER OF THE MATCHMAKER by Julie Wright. I have loved every installment of the Matchmaker series, and this is no exception. I couldn't put it down. I was heartbroken each time Andra was kicked to the ground. I couldn't fathom how she was going to end up with the right guy, especially after all that time. (Which was probably the only thing I had a hard time with. He waited around for a long time.) It was an amazing progression for both Andra and Everett. What a journey. Anyone who loves a great roller coaster as well as a love story will love this book. I highly recommend it to anyone.

:) :) :) :) :)

Every time Andra Stone crosses paths with Everett Covington, trouble follows. First she loses her scholarship, then she loses the apartment she’d wanted more than anything. But tragedy hits hardest when she loses her grandmother—the best friend Andra has ever known. She determines that Everett is a talisman of ill fortune. When Everett comes to work in her hospital and is applying for the same position she’d been working toward since residency, Andra believes him to be her personal poltergeist. The human heart has four chambers—four chances to get it right. Andra has only one chance left.

IF WE WERE A MOVIE by Kelly Oram—book review/giveaway

if we were a movie If We Were a Movie by Kelly Oram (Power of the Matchmaker #3) I LOVED this book. From the sibling fighting to the drama with the ex, I was enthralled from beginning to end. I felt my emotions mirroring those of Nate and Jordan. I was suck into the story and a level that I don't get to very often. I lived their story with them. I loved how Nate stood up and took responsibility and accepted the consequences for his actions. I loved how Jordan allowed him to, even though it hurt her. It's a fantastic read that I would recommend to everyone. There some mild language.

NOT ALWAYS HAPPENSTANCE by Rachael Anderson — book review

Not Always HappenstanceNot Always Happenstance by Rachael Anderson. I loved this story. Not only is it set in Hawaii, somewhere I've always wanted to go, but it gave me the feeling I'd love to have when I get to go somewhere. Lani reminded me of the way life should be lived, just one day at a time, enjoying every moment. I loved being a part of her world and witnessing her choices along the way. And yes, things in life are not always happenstance. This is a wonderful, clean read that I can recommend to any and everyone.

:) :) :) :) :)

Lani has lived in Hana, Hawaii for five years. She’s learned to surf, fish, dive, and manage her grandmother’s bed and breakfast. She’s also learned to take one day at a time the way it should be taken—relaxed and unrushed, savoring every moment. But, like a large wave on the brink of breaking, her life is about to crash out of control. A proposal of marriage, a conniving grandmother, a cryptic Asian woman, and a handsome guest, and suddenly everything calm begins to churn, everything clear becomes confused, and all that was normal segues into peculiar. As Lani struggles against the current to hold her ground, she realizes that she can either continue to fight and eventually lose, or take a take a leap of faith, hold her breath, and ride the wave wherever it takes her. ***This book is part of the Power of the Matchmaker series that features one recurring character—the match maker—but it is a STAND-ALONE novel.***

BROKEN THINGS TO MEND by Karey White — book review

broken things to mend
Broken Things to Mend by Karey White

This is a very cute story, although a bit predictable. The characters were fun and the setting made things intriguing. That being said, I had a hard time reading this story. I felt like I couldn't pinpoint the point of view. A few paragraphs were from one person's viewpoint then it would switch. It was almost like Karey was trying to do an omniscient point of view but for me, it didn't work well. I ended up scanning through some of it and by the midway point things seemed to settle a bit and each section was in a different point of view. This is just one person's opinion and it may not bother other people, so I would have to say if the head hoping (changing points of view in the same section) this is a great love story.

:) :) :)

Celia is in desperate need of a change--a change of scenery, a change of pace, and a complete redo of all relationships. Not knowing what else to do, she opens a map, closes her eyes, and lets fate decide her future. Then she packs her meager belongings and buys a one-way ticket to a little town on the fringes of Oregon's Deschutes National Forest called Sisters. She's wanted a family for years. Will she find one in Sisters? What Celia doesn't plan to find is a strange Chinese woman whose meddling ways keep throwing her in the path of a handsome, but reserved, forest ranger. But no matter how kind or dependable Silas seems to be, there are some things in Celia's past that neither of them can escape, and this time, the damage might be too much to mend.

THE MATCH MAKER by Karey White—Book Review #amreading #bookreview #books

Match Maker Book CoverThe Match Maker by Karey White (The Husband Maker #2) I loved the first book in this series. Check out my review of that one, here. This is the first book I have ever wanted to skip to the end to make sure it wrapped up the way I wanted it to. I didn't do that and enjoyed the book but it was harder to get through because I know what I wanted to have happen. The characters are still wonderful and I got a good taste of Scottland, which I loved. I can't wait for the next book to make sure Charlotte ends up with who I think she should. This is a series I would recommend having all three books to read back to back, otherwise you are left feeling incomplete at the conclusion. It is a great read that I would recommend for anyone, though.

:) :) :) :)

(Summary contains spoilers if you have not yet read book #1 The Husband Maker)  It’s been six months since Charlotte and Kyle broke up, and the Husband Maker strikes again. Kyle is officially engaged, while Charlotte is still nursing a broken heart. In an effort to get Charlotte out of her rut, she and her best friend decide it’s time for some good old-fashioned matchmaking. While Aleena arranges for Charlotte to meet up with a handsome Scottish tourist, Charlotte gets her two best friends together. But when sparks start to fly between Aleena and Angus, Charlotte is left feeling more alone that ever--at least until the charming Scotsman becomes more than just a safe, rebound guy and teaches her that maybe, just maybe, she can dare to open her heart again.

The Husband Maker new

The Husband Maker by Karey White Charlotte’s a girl with nicknames. She may not love being called Charles or Chuck, but the hardest nickname to take is the one she was given in college, the one that’s followed her now for too many years. They call her “the husband maker” and sadly, it fits. Every guy she's dated since high school has gone on to marry the next girl they date. Not two or three girls down the road. The very next one. Is she doing something wrong or is she just cursed? When Kyle Aldsworth enters the picture and sweeps her off her feet, Charlotte begins to hope that maybe she's not destined to be single forever. A senator’s son with political aspirations of his own, Kyle's wealthy, handsome, and in need of a wife. Will Charlotte be disappointed yet again, or will she finally be able to make a husband for herself?
