ONLY THE BRAVE by Gerald N Lund #bookreview #reviews #books

ONLY THE BRAVE by Gerald N Lund. I really like Lund's historical fiction. I always have, and this book is no exception. I marvel at the amount of research he does and how he weaves these fictional families into history flawlessly so that we can experience the time through their eyes. It's easy to fall in love with these characters and follow them through their journeys. It's amazing what the early pioneers went through in order to settle different parts of Utah and Arizona. I highly recommend this book to any and everyone, especially those history lovers.

As this standalone sequel to The Undaunted begins, four years have passed since the first Mormon pioneers made the harrowing journey to carve the Hole-in-the-Rock trail to the region of the San Juan River in southeastern Utah. In that time, the settlers have dug in deep to try to establish roots in this untamed and unforgiving desert, but life is still far from easy. Biting winds, devastating floods, scorching heat, barren terrain, and tensions with everyone from Indians to outlaws to competing ranchers have threatened the pioneers' ability to thrive—or even survive.
But the call from Church leaders to establish peaceful, stable settlements in the volatile region still stands, so young Mitch Westland and his family must find a way to make a home amid the harshest of circumstances. They soon learn that their only chance of success lies in uniting together with the other faithful Saints—including the Zimmers and their charming daughter, Edie. Can the families withstand the blows that seem to come every step of the way as they struggle against man, nature, and their own fears to heed a prophetic call? Many settle will try to conquer that rugged territory, but only the brave will prevail.

THE HEALER by Gregg Luke— #bookreview #giveaway #books

THE HEALER by Gregg Luke. This was an incredible read. I was fascinated from the first page. The first chapter really pulled me in and I couldn't stop reading. I thought for sure that I would be able to skim some parts but every time I tried, I got sucked back into it and found myself reading every word. There was some medical talk that was over my head, but the story was wonderful. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is ready for a good ride.

After successfully completing his first-year professorship, Welsh folklore expert Chris Pendragon has earned a vacation. At least that's what the young scholar tells himself—but deep down he feels an urgency to reassess his life, to find a sense of purpose. Hoping that perhaps a trip to Wales will provide the answers he seeks, Chris embarks on a journey of self-discovery. But he could never have anticipated the unimaginable adventure that awaits him ...
Shortly after his arrival in Wales, Chris is witness to a horrific accident with more far-reaching consequences than he could have dreamed. Following Chris's heroic rescue of one of the victims, an unexplainable phenomenon is revealed: bones that had been broken were made whole with Chris's touch. Still reeling form this discovery, Chris is approached by a wizened old man with an implausible answer: Chris has been chosen to be the bearer of the Dial, a healer of unparalleled power. But the calling is fraught with peril, and Chris soon discovers there are those who will stop at nothing to seize the power of the Dial. With the help of a beautiful, if skeptical, doctor, Chris must choose: go back to the life he was leading or embark on a thrilling new destiny.

CONFESSIONS OF A MOM

Yes I'm getting this up late, but that's the way the week has worked out. Somehow this week has just blown up and was really busy. As I look back on it now, in a way it was a blessing. I had moments every day when I thought about my little Lion and tears came to my eyes. I'm afraid if I hadn't had things going on that I would have broken down a lot more.

Last Saturday we had a memorial/birthday celebration for our sweet Lion. That morning Tigger asked who the party was for. When we told him he immediately asked, "Is he going to be there?"

"Probably, but we won't be able to see him."

"Oh."

That brief conversation got me choked up, but we had a wonderful celebration. We miss him daily and are thankful that we will see him again someday. Here's a picture of the present we got Lion for his birthday. Tigger helped pick the balloons and you can't really see it, but there's a dragonfly solar light.

Happy Valentine's Day and We Miss You Little One.

ME TARZAN YOU JANE by Camelia Skiba— #bookreview #giveaway #books

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000040_00002]

Me Tarzan, You Jane by Camelia Miron Skiba

Darling story with way too much sex talk. I ended up skimming through most of it because I didn't want to read a lot of their conversations. I enjoyed the overall story but it could have done without some of the content.

:) :) :)

Moving on doesn’t always have to mean goodbye. Widowed makeup artist Jane Sullivan is more comfortable keeping her husband's memory alive than dating a pool full of sharks. Ella, her 4 year-old daughter, is her whole world. When Jane meets Lucas Oliver, famous cover model, it’s hate at first sight. His playboy persona rubs her the wrong way. Accustomed to every woman fawning over him, Lucas is drawn to the shy, uncompromising single mom and completely melts at the sight of Ella. He is determined to convince Jane that sometimes a second chance can mend a broken heart.

add to goodreads   Praise: Fun book. When it first started out, I was afraid it was going to be shallow (lots of references to hot guys, etc) but it turned out to be a thoughtful story with likable characters. I look forward to reading more from this author. ~ Author Karey White   Great story! Loved Jane's strength, and learning the layers of "Tarzan." This is a great story about moving on after a tragedy and learning to trust again! ~ Author Sherry Gammon   I adored this book. The characters were so alive for me that I was actually sad when the book ended. I wanted more. Maybe the author will be kind enough to write about each of the male models mentioned here ... If your looking for a heartfelt story this is the book for you. ~Solmarie

WEDDING CAKE by Josi S Kilpack— #giveaway #bookreview

Wedding CakeWEDDING CAKE by Josi Kilpack. This final installment of the Sadie culinary mystery series was incredible! The author wrote a note at the beginning of the book begging the reader to have read the previous 11 books in the series because characters from the past reappear. I have to admit, I hesitated to read it because I've only gotten through 8, but I committed to this post and there wasn't time to read the rest of them. Even with that handicap, the story was amazing. It couldn't have ended better. Everything was tied up beautifully. There were several parts that had me gripping my seat. This was an amazing ending to an incredible series that everyone should read. Check out my other reviews for this series: Key Lime Pie & English TruffleBaked AlaskaRocky RoadFortune Cookie (so I have some other reviews to write.) :)

:) :) :) :) :)

After years of mysteries, murder, and mayhem, the big day has arrived, and Sadie wants nothing more than for her wedding to Pete to be completely uneventful. When she receives a threatening, anonymous text message just days before the ceremony, she's determined not to let it interfere with the celebration she has carefully planned for months. But as the threat escalates from a distant fear to a frightening reality, Sadie realizes just how much she's underestimated the situation. Desperate to put an end to the games, lies, and manipulation that has shadowed her life, Sadie, her fiance, Pete, and her children pull out all the stops. What they don't know, however, is just how far Sadie's nemesis is willing to go to make good on the thread she made to Sadie three years ago. Will the wedding go off without a hitch, or will "'til death do us part" come far too soon? There's no turning back for anyone in the riveting conclusion to this twelve-volume culinary mystery series.
